But in EU4 you're always successful because you have to avoid failure, and so you just become a mega empire by 1550 or whatever and then you really never fail because you're so much stronger, both compared to what's realistic, and the other AI who have to face failure themselves. Up and down and some countries get bigger and have more success over time and that's how you get things realistically. In real life countries will face constant failure and some success. And it is I think significantly responsible for the drop of difficulty and drop of interest in the mid and late game. Restarting or reloading an earlier save the moment failure is clear, cheating, those are the main three ways. And there's a variety of ways to achieve that. Anyway, because failure is not an option, players will just never fail. That's such a dumb change and it makes the game just worse. The populace's possessions are not literally money owned by the state. You can give up 100% war score immediately or you can try to desparately defend yourself and lose thousands of manpower and money to maybe lose less than 100% war score. Players will choose instead to always win rather than let a single war go badly, because the AI forces you to always lose so much. I think this is an actual problem with the game. You have 100% war score them so you can demand anything even forcing them to convert you, which means they do not control ANY provinces and you control all the provinces of all the enemy integrants in that war. Islands with forts or separated areas with forts counts as them, like northern and sourthern Burgundy or Burneo Island. AI will always refuse if you are asking for any province in an area you dont control any fort. That previous formula has a few excepcions: Every 91 days the AI will check how the war score has changed, if its on their favour they will have less reasons to peace out. War entushiasm is built by many different factors but it can be easly manipulated, even the 'making gains' one. (I didnt take in account the modifier which gives minus reasons if you ask for more % in the peace deal than the % war score you have in them, but it scales exponentially, neither the full annexation / vassalization modifier which also gives minus reasons. In short they will always peace out if this is met: Your war score on them - war entushiasm - 10 (if they have fierce negotiator trait) = %peace deal demand + 1 They do not consider the actual value of anything, they just care about these reasons. Each reason has a numbear weight and the AI will not accept anything unless you give them at least 1 more reason to peace out. Result: Paradox is Swedish" Websites and Wikisīecause AI's peace deals work by modifiers, 'reasons'.
